Often with medical insurance, and depending upon the type of service rendered, you pay out-of-pocket until your deductible has been met.
With dental insurance you may still have a deductible to meet – typically less than $100 – but you also know in advance what your calendar year annual maximum amount will be. Once the cost of your dental care exceeds the yearly maximum, you may need to postpone some services until the annual calendar year maximum resets or pay for the services out-of-pocket.
While the typical annual calendar year maximum on dental insurance plans is $1,000 to $1,500 per year, Spirit plans offer a $3,500 calendar year maximum – higher maximum coverage amounts – now that’s something to smile about.
*The $3,500 annual maximum plan(s) may not be available in all states.
The National Association of Dental Plans (napd.org) indicates most dental Network and Indemnity plans have a maximum annual benefit of $1,000 to $1500.
